EUDR Check: Verified by Preferred by Nature
Geocledian’s EUDR Check is among the first tools to be verified by Preferred by Nature on the Traceability Tools Navigator. This platform is a milestone for transparency in EUDR compliance – and a useful reference point for companies preparing for the EU Deforestation Regulation.
What is Preferred by Nature?
Preferred by Nature is a global non-profit organisation founded in 1994 with the mission of promoting sustainable land management and business practices that benefit people, nature and the climate. With decades of experience in certification, auditing and sustainable supply chains, the organisation operates the Traceability Tools Navigator (TTN), an independent platform where users can explore and compare digital tools for supply chain traceability, responsible sourcing and regulatory due diligence across forest-risk commodities.
What does verification mean?
Tool information on the TTN is largely self-disclosed by providers. To add a layer of confidence, Preferred by Nature offers an independent verification process: claimed features and feature values are checked against a public methodology, using evidence, documentation and access to a functional demonstration account. At least 75% of the claimed features must pass verification, alongside a set of critical mandatory features, for a tool to be shown as verified.
Importantly, verification confirms that the features a provider claims are actually in place and operational at the time of assessment. EUDR Check is among the first tools to have completed this process – making it easier for users to distinguish independently checked information from self-disclosed claims.

The EUDR is entering its final stretch
The EU Deforestation Regulation will apply to large and medium-sized operators and traders from 30 December 2026 (micro and small enterprises: 30 June 2027). After two postponements, the Commission has confirmed it will not reopen the regulation, and a delegated regulation updating the product scope was published in September 2026.
Companies placing cattle, cocoa, coffee, palm oil, rubber, soy, wood and derived products on the EU market must therefore soon demonstrate that their products are deforestation-free and legally produced – including precise geolocation of production plots and satellite-based deforestation checks.
How EUDR Check supports you
EUDR Check is our deforestation risk assessment tool, available as an easy-to-integrate API solution. It covers the full geospatial EUDR workflow, from plot mapping and geometry validation to automated parcel-level deforestation checks based on long-term satellite time series and internationally renowned datasets, through to regional risk assessment and reporting.
Beyond the automated check, we are continuously extending our offering:
- Legality risk indicators (upcoming) – since the EUDR requires not only deforestation-free but also legally compliant production, we are preparing a preliminary risk check that flags where legality verification efforts should be focused. Note: this is an early-warning indicator and does not constitute a legality compliance assessment.
- EUDR Expert Assessment (available now) – a manual validation service for medium or high-risk deforestation results, where experts review satellite imagery following a guided protocol and a four-eyes principle, recommending follow-up actions where needed.
- Managed Service – for companies without their own platform or API integration, we take over the deforestation check as a service, provided geodata is supplied. Particularly relevant for SMEs looking for a low-effort path to compliance.
Get ready for 30 December 2026
With the application date approaching fast, now is the time to build your EUDR compliance process on a solid, transparent data foundation. We look forward to supporting you.
